C12J6 – B26J6 HOLE OPENERS
Atlas Rock Bit's J6-type hole openers have 6 jet nozzles (3 pocket & 3 wing). The general rule of thumb, 25% of TFA at the pilot bit and 75% of TFA at the hole opener, would still be used. However, certain formations may require more flow through the pockets than the wings of the hole opener. For example, in soft, sticky gumbo formations, more flow would be needed in the pockets to keep the cutters clean than would be needed through the wings. In this case, 25% of the TFA through the pilot bit, 45% through the pocket jets, and 30% through the wing jets.
